The Sacred Hum: A Conversation on Remembering Who You Are
Alan Gillanders joins Dr. Doug for an unhurried conversation about the long way home to self, a shattered wedding ring, an answered prayer, and the ancient teaching of "I Am." Together they explore synchronicity, the frequency beneath all things, and what it means to remember the divine we never actually left.

I have spent years in conversation with people who are successful by every measure and still quietly restless, not broken, not lost, just aware somewhere underneath the noise that there is a version of their life that feels more honest, more grounded, more genuinely theirs. This podcast exists for those people, for the ones who are done performing and ready to go deeper. My name is Dr. Doug. Welcome to Inspire Vision.
00 I'm glad you were here. Alan, welcome to the show. Thank you, Dr. Doug. I'm happy to be here. Hey, I'm excited to have you here. This is going to be fun. I love the fact that you're close by in Australia, so that's great. Yeah, we're just down there, a bit lower down the globe, so we're sort of parallel. Yeah. So, hey, I'd love for you to share with the audience who you are, a little bit of your background. Okay, I was growing up in a lovely country, Victoria, eastern Australia, and amongst farm animals and the bush and no real neighbors next door. So it was a lovely environment. I grew up in a Christian environment and going to church every week, Catholic school. I was quite happy with all that. But as I grew, I had things that were just a little bit questions in my mind. And then I went into engineering and did an apprenticeship. and got married and had a family. And as life moved along, I moved out of engineering and into running businesses for 25 years, and then eventually drifted back into engineering again.
05 And that's where I am today. And my mind's been open to many things along the journey. Well, and you know, it's so interesting that we all have our quote professions, and yet there's a whole other side to that journey. And that journey is about our life. And I'd love for you now to kind of share your journey because it's amazing and you ultimately with that journey. Well, just share the journey. I know we're going to talk a little bit about your book, but share the journey that brought you to this point about the things that we're going to talk about here. Okay, so growing up was great. I didn't have any issues with that and believed in the church's teachings. But many things just questioned reality, like the Old Testament. I was a bit fascinated by the amazing stories and were they real? But when I asked the priests and the nuns that taught me, they said to just leave that and work with the New Testament, which was fine until I was in my 20s and married and raised. I wasn't really that happy in the marriage and the fact that we weren't highly compatible and things just weren't working out the way I wanted, that I believed the marriage should work out. We had kids and it just seemed like an existence. After years and years of thinking, I seem to be just, well, a horrible word, but sentenced to prison sentence of being stuck in a marriage as a young guy. And it's just not going. I thought, well, the right thing to do is to talk to her about it. Don't get divorced. And I did that. And after a while, Things didn't get any better. They didn't change.
37 And I started delving deep into my upbringing and philosophies of what is God. That's sort of starting off on a journey. What is God? Who is God? And how can God answer everyone's prayers all over the world? I thought, this is amazing. So God can't really be a being if all our prayers are being answered at once. And I know they do. I've seen miraculous miracles happen. on mainly on the television of healings or people being sick I thought it must be some kind of energy and I thought well why don't you listen to me so I was driving my car one day and I was thinking this out loud so I said out loud God why don't you answer my prayers and give me an answer why I'm stuck in this marriage now for another eight years like a prison sentence and at that moment my ring exploded off my finger while I was driving the car can you believe it fell down on the And I pulled the car over and picked them up.
32 And I sat there with the ring pieces in my hand thinking, something just listened to me. And it gave me an answer. That's impossible for a ring to explode outwards. And I thought, now I need to go down a journey and find what this is all about and who is God or what is God? What is the energy that I just, I believe I accessed an energy. So that led me to Eastern philosophy and just a lot of deep meditation and thinking. Didn't know if the answers are right, but you know, the journey is you don't really know. But then I discovered things that happened and miracles I saw that I could not believe. And I thought, well, these weren't supposed to happen when Jesus was around. But I see them today. This was years ago now. And I thought, I wish those miracles happened to me. And they didn't. But I saw them and talked to other people and they had miraculous miracles. And I thought, well, this is truly amazing. What do I need to do?
26 And I started studying, reading. going into the very ancient philosophies of Vedas, Upanishads, the Egyptian hermetic philosophies, the Buddhists, Hinduism, and eventually it all come to more miracles started happening and I realized I was connected and I never was distant. I was never not connected. I just didn't know that I was connected. So that's been a fascinating journey. Well, and you know, it's interesting. I know we're going to talk a little bit about the quantum field and so forth. Now, my background is a little bit different. but I absolutely have been raised to believe in the Father, who I believe is ultimately the high God. I also believe in the Savior, who I believe is his Son. And, you know, as we get into, you know, the Dead Sea Scrolls, it is interesting, if one were to believe that, how it talks about the fact that here is Elohim, the Father, assigning his Son, Yeshua, to oversee this world and oversee that. So anyway, that's kind of where I come from. But what has fascinated me is exactly what you're talking about. I literally went and went to a full week with Joe Dispenza with meditation. And I saw and heard about the healings and the quantum field and the energy and all of that. And So similar to what your thought process was, I started thinking, okay, how
56 does that all work? How can people tap into that and experience that healing when, as you say, Christ isn't around necessarily anymore, physically, physically, okay? Now, my thought about that is a little bit different than yours, because as I've studied Hinduism, as I've studied Buddhism, Buddhism and all of that, what I have noticed is that they have evolved over a period of time, just like Christianity did. Christianity never existed with Christ. It was created by the Catholic Church. And, you know, a little bit before that, maybe by Paul. But the reality is that as we see that whole historicity going on, they have completely changed the original concepts and understanding of God. and his son, and even who we are. And so I find that interesting now to the point where here we are trying to figure it out. And as we study these different areas and different theologies, to some degree, they've moved the physical God out of the picture and put in this, as you said, and I say this with the totalest deep respect, you know, because that's the general feeling now that he's just everywhere and everything and so on and so forth. And it's interesting to me that it doesn't make any difference, I guess, for people as to what they think. I think we need to respect everyone's viewpoint.
27 But the key is, is that we have, as you say, some conscious field out there that literally we can tap into that can make an incredible difference in our lives. And I want you to share a little bit about what your experience has been with that, with consciousness, with the quantum field. and what that has been for you. Well, yes, I'd love to. And yes, your journey is very similar. And I expect there's probably millions of people on the same journey with the same questions. And where do they find the answers is hard because nobody really knows the true answer because we only live this physical life.
11 And once we're passed on, nobody comes back. except for some people that believe they've had miraculous after-death experiences and come back. We're not sure whether they see, but anyway. So we're all on this similar journey and have similar thoughts, but some of us go a little bit deeper and find these things, and then we have to test them out to see if they're real. So that's what I've done in part of my journey, and it's experiences that I had over and over again that I started to think they're more than just coincidences. And I'm more than just lucky because they keep happening as long as I keep being the same person. So I try and raise my elevation of my vibration, my feeling, my happiness, my joy to everybody and everything. and I realized that everything goes well the doors open for me things just seem to go better than other people and then I felt happy all the time because other people weren't happy but they gravitated towards me wondering why I was so happy I'm thinking well I'm happy because I'm enjoying life and I don't hold animosity towards anything And I don't judge other things. I mean, you can have fun by making really cool about something in passing of your friends. But that's just a bit of fun. And it's not hurting anyone.
31 It's harmless. And we all do that. But in reality, I don't hold anger towards anything, but respect and love and gratitude. And things just seem to work easy for me. As I said, jobs open, doors open. And so I decided to think about the little bit that you said about that. And we talked about earlier that God is everywhere in everything. And I thought, well, I've seen people ask God directly, not knowing what God is, but have an answer. So I did that while I was working at one place. And I asked God, I'm not sure if I'm not threatening, but I felt bad about demanding. So I thought, God, I need to find a a valve, which is a tap on a line and a gas plant, and there's probably 10,000 or more, maybe 100,000 valves on this giant plant in Darwin. And I was with a team of guys, and I said, God, can you help me find this valve? And the team of guys was about six. And morning break came along, and they said, we're going to break now, we can't find it. And I knew I'm in the right area because I had plans on drawings, but I couldn't find it. And so the guy said, we're going to break. You're going with us.
43 I said, no, I want to stay here just a few more minutes. I wanted to be on my own. So when I was on my own, I said out loud, God, help me find this valve. I know you can do this. Just send me the message from my emotion. I'm going to be guided by the emotion. So I started looking and I couldn't find it. And after 10, 15 minutes, I thought maybe I was imagining that this will work. And I started to go down the steps back to a lunchroom. And as I got to the bottom, An emotional feeling thought, you are in the right place, but the stairs above you. And I looked back up and there were stairs there. And I thought, oh, of course, I didn't go up the stairs. Now I felt excited. So I went up the stairs thinking this is it.
24 And I looked around and there wasn't many valves. But I looked at every one and looked at the number tags on them to make sure I was finding the right one. And again, nothing. And I turned around and felt a little bit disappointed thinking I really, really had that emotion. I was right. And the message told me, no words, but I felt it. And as I started walking towards the stairs, there was a small tank, a vessel in front of me. And I thought, what's behind that? And I looked around behind it and there was one valve. And the one I was looking for, I could not believe it. It was the one I was looking for. It had been there all the time, right above us where we were below and right where it wanted to be. And I just smiled and said, thank you, God, out loud.
06 the guidance in my heart and feeling came true. And so I raced back to our lunchroom with five minutes spare. And the guy said, where have you been? You've just used up all your lunch break. I don't care. I just felt so excited for the whole day, for days on end, actually, knowing that it can work if we listen inside. And isn't it interesting? I've just had a similar experience, which to me is so fascinating. We call it coincidence. And And yet, if we really can begin to understand that it isn't just coincidence, there's that divine that is guiding us. And as you said, you thank God when that happened. I'm in Thailand. I'm seeking to bring my wife to the U.S. And that's a major visa issue right now with what's going on. And so meanwhile, I have our home there that we will be in once we get there. But meanwhile, you know, I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. And I was talking to my son the other day and I said, you know, I'm not sure what to do with this.
12 And he's saying, you know, maybe you should just rent it until you get back. And it's going to take, you know, 12 to 18 months for this whole thing to happen. Why not? And save yourself a little bit of that expense. And I thought, you know what, Thomas, that's a great idea. I'm going to consider that. Two hours later, he called me. Dad, you're not going to believe this. And he happens to be a property manager. He says, you're not going to believe this. One of my best friends just called me. He's going through a divorce. He needs a place to rent, according to his attorney, for the next six months to a year. And I'm going, have him look at the house. And so he went through the house. He said, yes. And so all of a sudden, I've got it rented until I get the visa for my wife. And I'm looking at that. And as I'm on my next morning walking meditation, I'm thinking to myself, which I do, Father, thank you. I could look at this as a coincidence. But the reality is, thank you, because you got me thinking along that way.
16 You got my son thinking along that way, ultimately, just in time. So when my son got that call, he had everything ready. And I think that so often as people go through their lives and they notice these coincidences that they forget and really depending on their upgrading and so forth, they don't realize that there's a higher value that they can acknowledge, which is that divine being, however you want to look at that, that literally is looking over us. And as we seek to really become the best that we can, He is there to guide us in so many different ways.
56 That's absolutely wonderful, that experience. And look, many of us do have them. And I've told some other different experiences to friends or acquaintances briefly, and they say, that happened to me. And I thought, well, it happens to everyone. But unfortunately, we're constantly looking at our physical senses as a human being and forget there's a divine energy there that's always there listening to us. And it's negative or positive. It doesn't matter. It's just energy. And we're tapping into that. And it's not a coincidence because when you find that your connection happened, it was meant to happen because you put it out there. It wasn't your son that put it out there. You put it out there. And it connected through him and through another person. And the same for me. It connects to other people. You get a message from someone weeks later that the answer was in that person. They don't even know they give you the answer.
47 But you know, because you were asking. And this is more than coincidence. It happens too many times. Oh, I know. And, you know, I love the name of your new book that's coming out, you know, The Sacred Hum of I Am. And I have focused on those words, I am, for so long, because as you probably know, one of my main focuses now is to help people. And I've developed this whole concept of a quiet return, return back to who you truly are. And as we look at all of these transformational processes that go on and everyone's trying to change because of all all the silly stuff that has been created in our subconscious that to some degree we have no free agency anymore because our lives are controlled by our parents by our religion by our society and so forth at an early age and yet the reality is is that we can quietly return to i am that divine within us.
50 And so that's kind of what I got so attracted to wanting to talk to you on the podcast, because I love the name of that. But I want you to talk a little bit about what it means to you when you talk about the divine within us and how people can begin to understand that, quote, who the identity is that they are right now is not necessarily truly who they are? Yes, thank you for asking that question. So people have been brought up through schools and universities and family, church, and we're surrounded by information coming in that we're led to believe. And we don't generally question it. What we see is what we learn that we believe is true.
39 And unfortunately, we go along for the whole life believing all that because we're taught that. We don't actually question what really is the truth, which is, well, the word. What is truth? How can you measure it? You can't touch it. It really is the hidden part that we're not told is the truth part. But anyway, that's been like the doctrines are telling us something to lead us in a direction for their benefit, I would say, and generally a monetary benefit or controlling benefit or control over the people. You are separate from God and God is different from you. how dare you think you're the same? You're not the same. We're human beings. He's separate. But I started to look into what Jesus actually said a lot and looked at the sayings he was saying. And I thought, these are messages. Everything was a message to live better. And we're not following that. And it's been misconstrued a lot. So the truth has been hidden a little bit. So I thought, these messages actually make so much sense. But when I went to say, Upanishads and the Vedas, which apparently Jesus went into India for 14 years studying these and came back with these philosophies. And this is where a lot of things have been built from.
55 The ancients knew a lot more. Where they got their. Knowledge, I don't know. But I want to stop you. I want to stop you right there, because if in fact, and you mentioned the Bible, so I'm going to bring it up. If in fact, Deuteronomy, Dead Sea Scrolls, states that Christ was assigned to this world, Jehovah was assigned to this world to oversee and ultimately come to the earth as a man to atone and to do what needed to be done for whatever reason that is. Then all of a sudden, and I've looked at that very same question you just mentioned, and my perception, and it's my perception, I agree, that they were taught that by the divine in long before the divine came to the earth as a mortal being. And so he had to, as a mortal and experienced mortality like we are, he had to relearn it again. And as you say, you know, as the scriptures say, he grew from grace to grace.
56 He learned to the point where he was able to then come out into his ministry. So I personally believe as the divine, he taught Buddha, he taught the Hindu people, that concept of becoming. And then when he got here to the earth, he began to teach it again once he relearned it. Well, we're virtually doing the same. We're relearning what we've forgotten. And I mean, I don't say that I remember some past life, but what I'm learning, I think it's like I've already, I should be knowing. And when I discover it, the excitement inside is, I should have known this. Why am I not seeing it? And when you see messages from Jesus and other great philosophers, their message is very similar.
45 And I think they're all messages for us to live a better life, not to struggle. I know there's many things in play. We can't say there's one saving grace that will solve everything. But everyone has an individual journey. And they're all learning these things to make a happier life. So this happier life is really what we're almost in control of. And so that's when I learned the old messages actually were telling me something that we should be sticking to. And so I started to look at them as literal message, not some cryptic message of saying. So this was part of my deep delving into things. Well, and in your book, you talk about the ancient truths, and I believe that we can call them that. They are the ancient truths that they have been deliberately obscured by power, by systems of power. Talk a little bit about that with your research and so forth, and how you observed that those true teachings of ancient times have been obscured. through the years. Yes.
51 So I would always believe, well, as a younger person, that that's possibly a wrong thinking. And that was my conditioning along with everybody else. But then I realized that I need to step out of that box, that I'm a human being of no denomination, but studying what's in front of me. So let's look at it literally and go down that education path that I have to rely on the meditation of Something is guiding me and listen to that. So the things that I learned then were Jesus saying, my father and I are one. Well, if the father made Jesus and he's the same as his father, then he's one. Then are we the same? Because he died, he's flesh and blood. His message is still there. So I thought, well, what does he actually mean by that?
43 And then other things, I say to you, verily, you are all God's. And also when the Last Supper, he anointed all the apostles with the Holy Spirit, whom then went out and did miraculous events like Jesus did. So to my understanding, that anointing was awakening their mind that the Holy Spirit is within everybody. And you just have to believe. And Jesus actually said to them, you need to trust and believe. And when he walked through the Valley of the Lepers, I'm sorry to use some biblical stories here, but they're strong in my heart. And for people that haven't got that religious background, you can look them up. And anyway, apparently he went into the Valley of the Lepers and he may have been there two weeks or two months or two years. We don't really know.
29 And when he walked out, five people come out that were cured and four of them ran off. And one of them come back and said to Jesus, thank you for curing me. And Jesus said, I didn't cure you. Your faith cured you. I thought our faith is controlling us. We have to believe it. How do I believe enough that I can make a miraculous event? I was just wanting that to happen so much that if I have enough faith. But when I went to India and I saw a man of miracles there teaching exactly the same and I saw the miracles and he said to people, you would like to do the miracles I do, but you just don't believe. I thought, well, I am believing, but it doesn't happen.
11 Well, as you bring up this whole point of, you know, him saying that he is one with the Father, but then he says to us, you are to become one with me as I am one with the Father. And yet later on, he returns as a resurrected being and He's later seen by Stephen sitting on the right hand of God. And so we realize, and that's where I love the name of your book, you know, I Am, that we are literally becoming like him and therefore we become one with him as he is one with the Father in purpose and quality of character. And I love that you bring that up. So what happened? What Why were the powers such that they started to diminish that concept to the point where, in general, people do not have that understanding?
10 Well, they realized that they can control the governments by fear, which is the power they had, and they did for many years. And then the governments realized that we don't really need the church. We can control them by fear, too. So they controlled the masses, and then people are slaves to the doctrines and the religious and the country's laws all over the world that people become greedy and want that power so that people will pay taxes and tithe money or whatever. They found that that was a good controlling thing. It still goes on today. And people can have different views on that. I'm quite okay with that.
50 But that is my view. So I'm not trying to change anybody, but I would like them to understand, to open their mind But when you open your mind and listen, this is when some messages come. And they're not coincidence because you're always connected. So when Jesus says many things, they sound a bit cryptic, but maybe talk to a group of people or someone that's interested and they can bounce off each other. I found that was good. But that name of the book came because I decided to ask God directly I only use the word God because it could be some other energy, divine universe. I said, what should be the name of my book? And I laid there thinking and a message come to my head.
34 I am is the answer. Well, is that an answer? So I said again, what shall I call my book? And again, the same message I am is the answer. Well, I know it's the answer to everything, but is that the name of the book? I can't just call it that. And I knew I'd written about frequencies and vibrations, which connects to the quantum side of things, the physics, and how those miraculous events can happen. I'm not a physicist, but I understand a lot how that works. So I thought the vibration is in the universe everywhere. It's within us, it's in the animals, the plants, the frequency is there. So the frequency is a ancient hum, and that's what the ancients actually called this. The sacred hum is the frequency that connects to I am. That's the name of my book. So that's how that happened, because I connected to that higher consciousness.
27 Well, and I want to stop here and talk to those that are listening to this podcast, because in today's society and culture, particularly in the U.S., I don't know how it is in Australia, But there's such anger and resentment and pushback when someone expresses their personal belief. And yet, as I've looked at this and evaluated it, talked to so many people on my podcast and so forth, one of the things I understand and I want to share with the audience is this, that as you listen, if you disagree, that's perfectly fine because we all have our own different beliefs and perceptions. But this word that you used, curiosity, When rather than fighting against something, we become curious to seek to understand why someone has a different perspective, and we start to apply that curiosity, it may not change what our personal beliefs are, but at least it removes that frustration and anger and pushback and allows us to say, okay, I understand why they believe that. I don't necessarily agree, but it takes away that cultural pushback and anger that seems to be existing so i just wanted to say that to the audience as we're talking here but you talked about the vibration you talked about the frequency i think that's something really important for people to understand and i'd love for you to get into that in a little bit more depth so i.
55 Read lots of different books and i resonated well with um The Biology of Belief. So that was extremely interesting. I listened to some free podcasts on that. And Dr. Bruce Lipton wrote these. And I thought, this is a lot of information and it resonates so well. It sounds so sincere. I bought one of his books and then I read some more and I thought, now it's starting to make sense that we're made up of 50 trillion cells. But inside the cells, there's the atoms. And inside the atoms, we have protons, neutrons, and electrons. And inside those, the scientists can see with the electron microscopes that they're just quarks.
39 But inside the quarks, there's charms and down quarks and neurons and lots of different names. But inside those, all we have is strings of energy, nothing solid, just vibrating strings of negative and positive energy. And that's all there is. So then everything we see is an illusion. which you've probably heard, and many people may have heard that everything is an illusion. Well, how does that make sense when you can see it? But it is an illusion that what we're seeing is what we're taught to believe and appear as solid, but it's not really solid. Therefore, we are no different than the particles making up the rocks and the earth. We're just different compositions. And we have the brain that works. So how come, what is controlling our brain? Though I thought it is the vibration from the frequency's joining to the universe that Jesus talks about, the divine energy within us. Come into a human being to enjoy a human experience. And then before we know it, in a nanosecond, we've gone and we start all over again.
42 No one really knows where we go to, but we go back, start again. So then I realized that the physics is quite important. And I watched a movie in 1988 called Down the Rabbit Hole. And it was termed as What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole, same name. It became an arthouse sensation and was the number one hit in the world where science went down one path and spirituality went down a parallel path. They never actually joined. They didn't agree, but they were searching for the same answer. And in that movie, it blew people's minds apart because of the science proving certain points. They want tangibility. But the spiritualists knew this anyway, but couldn't actually prove it other than through healing miracles. And that was one of the greatest openings for my mind to venture down that path that we really go in the same direction. And everything is there. We just have to realize it and see it. And everyone's on their own journey. And I would love to be part of everyone's journey, helping them with anything I can. Because what I've discovered now is, I think, miraculous that I've led this direction. And we all do the same. And we can do many, many wonderful things for our own life.
52 So what is the journey that you would want to help people to experience in their lives? What is that journey? I would love them to realize that they can be happy. That's all we want. We work hard to get money to buy things to make us happy. We look for a partner in life because that person hopefully will enjoy a happy life together. We want to experience things. We eat food to enjoy happiness. So happiness really is their goal. Not buying things or collecting things because when we go, we don't take anything with us. But the happiness is the journey and the goal. But how do we get there when we're surrounded by so many things? Well, our focus is too much on the negative things and then they become real because the energy of the universe, the divine energy, gives you what you're thinking about most. So the best way to try and be happy and start the journey is switch off the phone, switch off the TV.
51 take a little bit of time out for yourself in a park or go for a walk or go in the evening or early morning where there's no social media, no electronic data, and just start listening to that silence in your mind. And through that silence, that's when I believe the messages will come to you. Not in words, and maybe people will get words, but generally through an emotion and you'll feel that that message is right. And that's where you'll start realizing I need to follow this. Well, and I love it as you talk about that. I love meditation, but I do it walking. And I do it for an hour to an hour and 20 minutes and so forth. So, you know, two to three miles.
35 And what I find interesting about that, and again, as I've talked to hundreds of people about this on my podcast, that so often as we start to do that, all of those subconscious imprints that have been placed on us, whether it's by religion, family, society, whatever that happens to be, starts to come up. And it's those things that if we don't recognize that are creating the experiences and our perception of what life is all about. And so I guess one of my questions for you, and I have my own answer to this, but I want you to share your thoughts on this, is that when those things come up, and particularly as we're going through that process of however that meditation occurs, How does someone deal with those things that have literally created their life to this point?
28 And if they've started that new journey, how do they deal with those things so that rather than fighting them, which, you know, I love this concept of that which we resist persists. How do they deal with that in a way that those start to minimize to where they actually then truly become I am? That's a huge question. There's not one definitive answer. There's a lot of things that you realize on this sort of journey. And the meditation is a good place. And I used to sit quietly every day in the same spot for weeks and months and realize I was meditating.
11 But as you go on, you realize you can get better. And it's tuning out of all these surroundings as you're doing walking or working. You don't have to drift off to a trance or anything you just tune out to everything around you and become not attached to anything and that is a form of meditation listening to what we would term as god or the divine energy that will give us those answers so when we're not happy in life then you need to who do you ask your family or or friends but ask that divine energy and the divine energy will maybe give you a feeling that your job's not right, your partner's not right, where you're living is not right, then that is your message coming from the higher energy telling you that you should move along.
59 But that energy is there like a God always or a father or a parent watching you, guiding you, and it wants to help you. So if you think, no, I don't want to move, then you won't move. But if you do want to move from a house, then something will come up. You'll see a suburb or another house I would like to live there, And that energy is going in to the divine energy because you're not disconnected. You are connected and it will start happening slowly. So if you're not happy in a job and you're struggling, then leave the job. When you look at your life now and you look back three, four or five years ago, you're better off today. Most people will say yes. And I think that, you know, I listened to a talk by a religious leader a while ago. And I loved what he was talking about because he was talking about new beginnings. And what he was talking about is, you know, folks, as you go through life and you're experiencing things that you don't ultimately want to experience, guess what?
59 There's always a new beginning. You can always do it. And as you talk about the journey, we can always create a new journey. And my personal experience through the years, and I've had many years to have those experiences, is that our journey never ends. And if we really have trust in that divine, we ultimately can start to experience what we seek to experience. I know this morning as I was walking and just meditating and thinking and appreciating, and all of a sudden my wife comes in and puts her hand in mine and we walk literally for 10 to 15 minutes hand in hand. And I thought to myself, this is something that I never, experienced in my life up to this point in time. And yet I have been led to this experience and this journey.
52 And what a wonderful blessing that is. Thank you, Father, for this blessing. And I think people need to understand that, you know, your journey is never over. And there's always the ability for a new beginning. And as we follow that concept, I think that's when we can start to experience what you're talking about. The journey starts today. And so you cannot go back to yesterday and you can't even go forward to tomorrow. Today is the day you make a difference. And how you approach it with your mind, with gratitude and love, then that is where it starts. Every single day, the bus takes off from the bus stop and a new journey begins. begins you don't go back to the old one you continue the one you're on so as you believe and you follow that path that's where the journey is if you think back 10 years in your own life are you better off today yes then in 10 years time you'll be better off the way you are today so this is part of the journey just moving forwards all the.
48 Time and I love that so Let me ask you this question. Your book has not been published yet, but it's coming out very soon. Talk a little bit about how people can find you, number one, and then find your book so that it might be of value to them. Well, I'm glad you asked that. So the book for me is a passion that I hope people will read it to open their mind to the awareness of who they truly are and what they can be. to be happy. And that was the purpose of the book, to write my personal experiences so that the reader will resonate with the author that he's had personal experience and not just theory. It's not a book on theory, although there's messages of how things happen. And I've tried to explain that. So to buy the book, I'm selling on the website. So the website is www.alangilanders.com. And the publishers will be publishing this, I believe, through Amazon. But the website is probably the best place to go to register an interest.
50 Okay. And are they able to download the book, or does it get delivered in hard copy or soft copy, or do they download it in PDF? To be honest on that, Dr. Duggan, I am not 100% sure with the publishers until the last stage, which is a few weeks away, how they're going to promote this. I've spent years writing this, probably nine years and more than 45, 50 years studying it. Um, so I'm leaving it to the publishers and I know it'll be available on the website as a hard copy book and possibly be a soft copy and perhaps an audio too. So, uh, but register the interest and that's where you'll find a bit more about it in the next coming weeks.
31 That's great. And I love the audio. I, you know, just as an aside, I found an incredible app that, uh, as I'm looking at some books that come down as a PDF, particularly from people that I'm interviewing that want to share it with me, it's like, I don't like to read. I don't like to sit down and read. I hate that. I love to listen. And I found an app that lets me take a PDF and actually listen to it as an audible. And it's amazing that people can do that. And I want the audience to know that, Hey, as you're, if you're not a reader, download these things and get them as a PDF and then find the app that allows you to actually listen to that. And it's amazing. So anyway, Alan, this has been incredible. I appreciate so much. You're sharing your journey.
20 The fact that you've written this book and in my mind, and again, I say this so many times to have the journey of, And then to be able to share it with others so that you can make a difference in their lives, I think is such a high calling. And I acknowledge you for that. That is really my sole goal is just to hopefully people read it. I went to work a month ago with some young engineers and one engineer said to me, your book sounds fascinating. So what do you hope to get from this, Alan? Money? I said, money never entered my mind. I want everybody in the world to read it to open their mind to the awareness of who they are and they can be happy. And he said, that's a really good idea.
02 I said, yeah, well, that's the real basic reason. Amen. Well, Alan, thank you so much. And folks, thanks for listening. I hope you've enjoyed this and I hope you'll get that book because I have the, I'm going to get it. And I have the idea that it's going to really make a difference in your life. So anyway, thanks for listening. Hope you join us again soon. This is Dr. Doug saying bye. Namaste. Namaste. Every conversation on this podcast eventually comes back to that same question, not how do I get more, but is this actually who I am? If something you heard today moved you just a little closer to an honest answer, that is enough. I'm Dr. Doug. This is Inspire Vision.
45 Until next time.
